The Fixed-Point Open Ocean Observatory in the Western Mediterranean Sea

The W1M3A observing system is one of the most important infrastructures of the National Research Council of Italy and is part of ERIC EMSO and ERIC ICOS. The observatory is moored at the center of the North Western Mediterranean Sea, about 80 Km offshore on a 1200 m deep seabed, and monitors the meteorological conditions of the basin and the physical and biogeochemical status of the ocean.
